How Long Does it Take My Seeds to Germinate?

How Long Does it Take My Seeds to Germinate?

Wondering how long it will take your Click & Grow plants to sprout? Your room temperature may play a part in determining this! Generally speaking, the warmer the room temperature, the faster your plants will germinate. 18 to 24°C (64 to 75°F) is a good average room temperature range in which to grow all your plants.

All plants have different germination speeds but, as a general guideline, most Click & Grow plants actually germinate within 2 weeks. Some plants, such as mini tomato, chili pepper and rosemary, may take up to 3 weeks to sprout. For such plants, you can help speed up the process by raising the room temperature temporarily to 26°C (79°F).

Herbs tend to sprout faster, especially in warm rooms where the temperature can reach up to 30°C. Salad greens, such as green lettuce, are heat sensitive so the room temperature should not exceed 24°C when growing them. Other heat sensitive plants include: arugula, bloody Sorrel, green sorrel, romaine lettuce, red kale, leaf mustard, pak choi, red pak choi

You can find out the sprouting time for each plant by going to our plant catalog. Simply click on the plant you want to learn about and then select the ‘plant care’ tab.

Keep in mind that the seeds are the living component and, therefore, the most vulnerable component of the plant pod. Seeds may look dead to us but they’re actually alive and waiting to sprout. It’s crucial to store the seeds in cool, dark and dry conditions so that they remain viable until you plant them.

Finally, remember to use the u-shaped lids and germination domes and be sure not to overwater your smart garden! If your plant pod has still not sprouted after 3 weeks, contact us at support@clickandgrow.com and we’ll arrange a free replacement plant pod for you.

Key takeaways:

  • Majority of Click & Grow plants sprout between 1-2 weeks.
  • Mini tomato, chili pepper and rosemary can take up to 3 weeks to sprout.
  • Herbs sprout faster in warmer temperatures up to 30°C.
  • Room temperature for heat sensitive plants should not exceed 24°C.

Happy growing!
