Quick Guide: 5 Herbs that Heal

Quick Guide: 5 Herbs that Heal

Herbs have been around much longer than pills and tablets have. Perhaps it’s time we give them the appreciation they deserve.

Our gardeners have put together a great overview of the health benefits found in 5 fantastic herbs.

Oregano

Did you know Oregano contains antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties? This herb really helps support the immune system. It’s useful to have around, especially when cold and flu season arrives!

Thyme

This herb has been known to contain antimicrobial properties and may help towards lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. Thyme is also rich in Vitamin A which helps promote healthy mucus membranes and skin. This, in turn, could promote improved vision.

Rosemary

Another delightful choice, this herb is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. This could boost the immune system and improve blood circulation. Furthermore, Rosemary has been said to improve digestion.

Arugula

This delicious herb is high in fiber and vital nutrients such as Calcium, Potassium, Folate and Vitamins C, K and A. At the same time it is low in sugar, calories, carbohydrates, and fat.

Dill

What’s the deal with Dill? It’s actually an underrated herb. Did you know it aids digestion and has antibiotic properties? A particularly incredible characteristic of Dill is that it can help alleviate insomnia. Its B vitamins and flavonoids stimulate particular enzymes and hormones which help you to relax. Why not enjoy a cup of Dill and chamomile tea before bed?

We hope this small list inspires you to consider herbs for their medicinal qualities. The list, however, is not exhaustive. There are so many herbs out there that can benefit our health.

As always, please use herbs responsibly and bear in mind that they are not a substitute for medical treatment. Please consult your medical care provider if you are unsure about any reactions you may have to the usage of certain herbs.
