5 reasons filtered water can improve your life

5 reasons filtered water can improve your life

Water filter

Water is essential for our daily lives. We use it for various purposes, including cooking, cleaning, bathing, and drinking. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the water we use is clean and free from harmful contaminants.

Drinking contaminated water can lead to various health problems, including gastrointestinal illness, skin infections, respiratory problems, and in some cases, fatality. Though some of us may be lucky to have clean running water from our tap, access to safe drinking water is an epidemic that affects billions of people worldwide.

Luckily, there is a relatively easy solution. Water filter pitchers are readily available and make it easy to get filtered water at home for staying hydrated, cooking, making coffee or tea, and even watering your plants.

Water is key for maintaining good health

Clean drinking water is vital for maintaining good health. The human body is made up of 50% to 70% of your body weight, and it is essential to keep the body hydrated to function correctly.

Health experts recommend what’s called the 8x8 rule, which has a good ring to it to help you remember to drink eight 8-ounce glasses (or 2 liters) of water a day. A more specific number to aim for is about:

  • 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) a day for women
  • 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) a day for men

If we’re supposed to drink so much water to maintain good health, wouldn’t you want to make sure that it’s the best water you can possibly put into your body?

Filtered water can reduce the risk of health issues

About 368 million people use unsafe water supplies. Even in more developed countries like the United States, the issue of contaminated water still persists. While some parts of the world face biological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause acute illness like diarrhea, vomiting, and fever, others may face chemical contaminants or pollutants.

Contaminants such as lead, chlorine, PFAS/PFOA, pesticides, and even pharmaceuticals can flow through the waterways and end up in your glass.

The best way to ensure you have clean water is through a water filter.

You read that right. Depending where you live, tap water could be altering the taste of the food you cook or even the coffee or tea you make. Your water should taste like, well, nothing really. When there are contaminants or extra stuff in your water, it can take on a different flavor.

Fancy some pool water in your tea? A little dramatic, but some municipalities will add an abundance of chlorine to the tap water system—an approach to prevent bacterial growth—the result is chlorine flavored water. Any heavy metals or additional contaminants can alter the taste. Some water filters can remove these contaminants while keeping beneficial minerals in.

Filtered water can help plants thrive

Using filtered water for watering plants or cooking can have numerous benefits. Filtered water is free from harmful contaminants, such as chlorine, lead, and pesticides, which can affect plant growth and health.

Our plants are absorbing the water and anything in it. If you’re watering produce you intend to eat, it's a good idea to use water that you would drink yourself. Depending on your location, tap water can be too hard for your plants and also contain detectable amounts of pesticides and antibiotics, a filter solution such as a LARQ Pitcher can take care of these problems.

Filtering water at home can save the environment and save you money

You might be wondering, “Do I just buy bottled water from now on?” No. It isn’t better to purchase bottled water instead of a water filter pitcher or other water filtration system.

It’s a common misconception that bottled water is somehow cleaner than tap water you run through a water filter. In fact, 25% or more of bottled water is just tap water in a bottle

You can also save money by filtering your own water at home. Buying enough bottled water to reach the recommended daily amount can not only get expensive, but it’s also detrimental to the environment. Bottled water creates a huge amount of single-use plastic waste that ends up polluting our oceans and becoming microplastics that end up in our soil, water, and food—becoming one of the many harmful contaminants that end up in our tap water.

Bottom line: Clean water keeps you healthy

By using filtered water, we can ensure that the plants we grow and the food we eat are healthy and free from harmful contaminants.  A water filter can remove impurities such as lead, chlorine, and bacteria, making the water safe for consumption. Filtered water has numerous benefits, including improved taste and odor, reduced risk of waterborne illnesses, and cost-effectiveness.
